I just purchased a new phone to replace my HTC Hero. While I felt a measure of loyalty to HTC after using their TytnII and Hero models I decided to do some research first to find the best phone I could. There was no ignoring the Samsung Galaxy S II.
With a dual core processor, an extensive feature list and a gorgeous screen it beat out many competitors in my eyes including the LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G and Motorola DROID Bionic. Samsung it appears was taking this phone very seriously and threw everything they could 'under the hood'.
Here is a list of its features
- 4.3" SuperAMOLED Plus screen with resolution of 800x480 (16 million colors)
- VibeZ technology that gives vibration response for every key press
- Samsung's own Exynos/Orion Dual-Core CPU
- 1GB Ram & 16GB Storage with 32GB MicroSD Storage capability
- 8.5mm Thickness & 4.1oz weight
- 8MP Rear-facing Camera & 2MP Front-facing Camera
- 1080p HD Video
- 1650 mAh Battery (although their preview version was only 1500mAh)
- Bluetooth
- WiFI & WiFI Direct
- Kies via WiFi (check out the video demo of this interesting feature)
- Movement Control
- 3G frequencies are 850/900/1900/2100 (Quad band)
I got in early and preordered my phone before its release in the UK but with the phone's iminent release here in Australia I thought I would put up some resources for someone thinking of buying this phone in Australia. Below is a list of reviews and some Youtube videos showcasing the features this phone has. Also there is a massive forum thread on Whirpool (Aussie tech forum) that picks this phone apart and offers reviews from users of this phone.
I have been very happy with the phone and can't really fault it.
